Neighborhood watch plaqueThe Wood County Sheriff's Office previously received Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants from the State of Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services. These grants, and the Wood County Commissioners provided funding for one Deputy to be a Community Policing Officer for Wood County.

The Community Policing Office (CPO) conducts a Citizen's Police Academy to inform Wood County residents about the Sheriff's responsibilities and how the Sheriff's Office operates. The CPO is the contact with the Wood County Senior population on concerns and safety issues through the Wood County Committee on Aging in Bowling Green and Otterbein Homes in Pemberville. Deputies also participate in the Wood County Fair and other festivals and community programs in Wood County by distributing informational flyers to adults, Junior Deputy badges to children, and talking with county citizens. Other activities include Blockwatch programs and bicycle registrations throughout Wood County.

The Community Policing contact for Wood County is Deputy Greg Johns. He can be reached at his office phone with any concerns or issues you may have or to set up a Blockwatch program in your area. See contact info below.
