Custar, OH - The Wood County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a non-injury accident in the area of Mermill and Custar Roads at approximately 6:14pm on Thursday, February 25^th. Prior to the arrival of Deputies it was reported that the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident, Cody Beaverson of Custar (age 34), had threatened a Wood County snow plow driver who had stopped to assist him. Mr. Beaverson then fled the scene of the crash prior to the arrival of Deputies. He was located a short time later at a residence in the Village of Custar after he had entered the home armed with a firearm.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene. Negotiators spoke with Mr. Beaverson for several hours until he exited the residence at 10:20pm at which time he was taken into custody by members of the Special Response Team.

Mr. Beaverson was transported to the Wood County Justice Center and charged with Felonious Assault; Having Weapons under Disability, Burglary; Inducing Panic and Driving under Suspension.
